Set up a topic
A topic is what you make videos about: a few keywords, the channels you learn from and the way you talk. It takes a couple of minutes, and everything else is built on it.
Name the niche. One niche is one board: a market you make videos for.
Open My topics in the sidebar and press New topic. Fill in the name and a couple of keywords, paste two or three channels you watch for ideas, and pick the formats you make.
When you press Create, Creativital searches YouTube with your keywords, reads the recent uploads of your reference channels, computes each channel's baseline and ranks everything. Your plan decides how many topics you can keep: one on Solo, five on Pro.
No account yet? The demo topic on the Board shows the whole loop on fictional videos, without any setup.
What each part does
- Topic name
- Just a label for you, like Skincare for beginners. Agencies keep one topic per client.
- Keywords
- Up to six. Each one is one official YouTube search per refresh, cached for 12 hours and shared, so start with two or three.
- Reference channels
- Channels whose uploads always join the board. They also give the baseline that the multiplier is measured against.
- Formats
- Shorts (up to 3 minutes) and long videos are ranked against their own kind, never mixed.
- Voice sample
- Three to five sentences of how you talk on camera. Scripts copy your rhythm and words from it.
Find ideas
Find ideas is one screen: the ten videos in your topic that beat their own channel the most in the chosen window. Best first. No feed, no infinite scroll.
The multiplier: views divided by the channel's median for the same format. 39x means the idea did the work, not the audience size.
Big numbers alone lie: a channel with 3 million subscribers gets views on autopilot. The multiplier fixes that. A video at 39x got 39 times what its own channel usually gets, so the idea did the work, not the audience. That is why a 6,000-subscriber creator can sit at the top next to a 300,000-subscriber one.
Use Save to keep a video on your radar and Dismiss to hide what does not fit. Refresh board pulls new candidates whenever you want a fresh look.
What each part does
- Multiplier badge
- Views divided by the channel's median for the same format. Grey 'No baseline' means the channel has too few uploads to judge.
- Rank number
- Order on the board: multiplier first, then how fast it grows against the channel's usual pace, then views.
- Title patterns
- What the ranked titles share (numbers, questions, first person, lists, time frames), counted without AI.
- 7, 30, 90 days
- The window. Short windows catch what is breaking out now, long ones show what keeps working.
- Why did it work? / Make my own
- Open the analysis, or jump straight to a script built from this video's opening.
- Paste a link
- Any YouTube video, even outside your topic, goes straight to the analysis.
Why did it work?
This view explains why a video worked: its opening, its structure and pace, and what it did differently from the same channel's weaker uploads.
Open a video from the board, or paste any YouTube link to break it down.
Press Why did it work? on any video. The first time takes a few seconds; after that the analysis is saved and opens instantly. You can run it again, for example after you paste a better transcript.
Every claim cites the video it rests on. Output from the AI model is labelled; when no model is configured you get a clearly marked template that only restates stored facts.
What each part does
- Opening
- The first line quoted from the transcript, plus the on-screen text and what is in frame one.
- Goal and formula
- Whether the opening is built for watching to the end, saves, comments or shares, and a fill-in template you can copy.
- Angle and triggers
- The persuasion angle (education, before and after, expert...) and the emotions the opening uses.
- Structure
- The beats with timestamps, the pacing and the call to action.
- What worked / did not
- Evidence from comparing it with the channel's weaker uploads, so it is not an opinion.
- Transcript
- You paste it from the video's transcript panel on YouTube. Without one, the opening is inferred from the title and labelled as such.
Keep your openings
Every analysed video adds its opening to My openings. Over time it becomes a list of openings that worked in your topic, ranked by how far their video beat the channel.
Patterns in your niche: which hook goals, angles and triggers keep beating the channel.
Read the pattern panel first. If most winners in your topic are built for saves with an education angle, that is your default shape; an opening built for comments is the variation you test.
Tick two or three openings with different goals and press the button to write a script with them.
What each part does
- Patterns in this topic
- Counts of opening goals, angles and lead triggers among the videos you analysed, with the best multiplier in each group.
- Formulas that beat the channel the most
- Your strongest fill-in templates, ordered by multiplier.
- Filters
- By opening type from the library, by goal, by multiplier or newest.
- Checkboxes
- Pick up to three openings and send them to Write a script together.
Write a script
Write a script turns openings that worked into your own draft: new words, same mechanism, in your voice, with every source cited.
Write the topic in plain words. The chosen hooks are already ticked.
Type what your video is about, choose the length and press Write my script. You get opening options, a timed scene table, a call to action, title options and thumbnail ideas that do not repeat the title.
Scripts are drafts, not guarantees. The rule is simple: reuse the mechanism, never the other creator's words.
What each part does
- Topic
- What this video is about, in plain words.
- Length
- 20, 30, 45 or 60 seconds. Scenes are timed to it.
- Opening options
- Two to four openings, each as three layers with its goal and formula. Film two and test them.
- Structure
- Named body structure (problem, agitate, solve; before and after; list; story...) with timed scenes, on-screen text and b-roll.
- Loop close
- The last line sends viewers back to the start or pays the opening off.
- Copy / Save to Vault
- Plain-text export for your editor, or keep it in Saved with links to its sources.
How it works
Under the hood
What happens between your click and the result, and what we refuse to do.
multiplier = 38,400 views ÷ 1,000 median = 38.4x
Log scale. The other bars are the same channel's last 12 Shorts.
The multiplier, step by step
- 1Take the channel's last 20 uploads in the same format (Shorts with Shorts, long with long).
- 2Find the median views. The median ignores a single viral fluke, unlike an average.
- 3Divide the video's views by that median. 1x is a normal video for that channel.
- 4Below 8 uploads there is no reliable baseline, so we show 'No baseline' instead of a number.
Nothing on the board predicts the future. These numbers describe what already happened.
Where the videos come from
The official YouTube Data API: keyword search, video stats and channel uploads. Searches are cached for 12 hours, stats for 12, baselines for 24, so one refresh serves everyone following the same topic.
Where transcripts come from
You paste it: on YouTube, open the video description, press Show transcript and copy the text. We never download videos and we do not fetch YouTube transcripts from other services.
AI or template
With an AI model configured, analyses and scripts are written by it and labelled AI-generated. Without one, a deterministic template restates stored facts and says so.
TikTok and Instagram
Neither offers a public search API, so we do not scrape them. Finding ideas and analysing videos work with YouTube and Shorts for now.
Your data
Topics, analyses, openings and scripts are private to your account and protected at the database level. Export or delete everything in Settings.
Plans and limits
Solo keeps 1 topic and 60 AI generations a month, Pro 5 topics and 300. Template output never counts against the limit.
Tips that save time
- Start narrowTwo keywords that your buyer would actually type beat six broad ones.
- Pick small reference channelsA 10K channel with a 20x video teaches more than a giant with a 1.5x one.
- Analyse three, not thirtyAsking Why did it work? on the top three videos is enough for the pattern panel to start showing something.
- Paste transcripts for your top picksThe opening quote and the structure get much sharper with a real transcript.
- Film two openingsUse two opening options with different goals on the same body and keep the one that holds.
- Add a voice sampleFive sentences of how you talk is the biggest jump in script quality.
